Learn Finnish this summer!

The Finnish language courses arranged by the immigration services of the City of Joensuu have been suspended due to the coronavirus epidemic. As the restrictions are being lifted, the courses can continue. The seven-week courses will begin in the second week of June.

Courses are available for beginners and advanced learners. The basic course is designed for those who have not yet learned any Finnish and those who only have a very basic understanding of the language. The follow-up course is designed for those who can already communicate in Finnish in basic everyday situations. Child care services are available in all groups, if necessary.

Please register for the course in advance. If you need child care services, please let us know in your registration. The courses and child care services are arranged in the premises of the City of Joensuu’s immigration services at Kauppakatu 29.

The maximum size of groups is 10 people due to the coronavirus epidemic. You can register by calling us on +358 (0)13 337 0333 or by e-mail at maahanmuuttajapalvelut@joensuu.fi.

There are two basic groups for beginners: 2 pm–3:30 pm on Tuesdays from 9 June to 21 July and 5 pm–6:30 pm on Wednesdays from 10 June to 22 July. The follow-up course is arranged 2–3:30 pm on Wednesdays from 10 June to 22 July.
