Public social and health care services in Joensuu are organised by Wellbeing services county of North Karelia - Siun sote. Siun sote is also responsible for rescue services and environmental health care services. 

There are also companies that offer private health care services, such as Terveystalo, Pihlajalinna, Mehiläinen and PK Terveys. In addition, there are several private dentists and dental clinics in Joensuu.

Emergency care and health centers

If you need urgent care, call your health center or the Medical Helpline 116 117, which is open 24/7 throughout the year. In medical helpline a nurse will assess the need for emergency care based on the injuries or symptoms. (S)he will provide care instructions and tells what to do.
