Any Joensuu citizen can become a Luotsi customer. Out-of-towners can take part in the events organized by Luotsi, too.

Unlike the TE office, Luotsi is not an authoritative element, and Luotsi does not make decisions about unemployment benefits or other authoritative operations. Luotsi is part of the employment services of the city of Joensuu. Luotsi’s customership is based on the customer’s voluntariness. Luotsi’s customership does not have an effect on your unemployment benefits, either.

For our customers, we are offering training and services promoting employment. We are also cooperating tightly with businesses in order to promote employment for Joensuu citizens and to secure our city’s vitality. For its personal customers, Luotsi offers a personal trainer of their own, a duuniagentti (from here on referred to as a job agent).

Luotsi’s job agents come in different education and work backgrounds with a mission to support the individual career or education paths of Luotsi’s customers. Get to know our job agents here and choose the most suitable option just for you!  Anyone about to make a move toward work or education can schedule an appointment with the job agent: unemployed job-seeker, job changer or student nearing the end of their studies.

Luotsi’s job agents are here to support you in the occasionally winding path of work. Their most vital task is to train customers personally and individually. Cooperation is always agreed upon between the customer and the job agent. Training work can be carried out as a personal service or remotely by using electronic channels. The customer and the job agent agree together on the goals, contents, and schedule of the training according to the customer’s needs.

The job agents also seek talent for open vacancies among their customers. Occasionally, we announce vacancies we have found on our website, in our networks, or on social media more extensively.

Luotsi’s business collaboration is based on both customers and businesses. Customer-based business collaboration is part of the job agents’ daily training work. Agents contact businesses and find work opportunities from different businesses for their customers. Luotsi’s business agents make daily contact with businesses and search for open employment opportunities. Businesses, too, can directly contact Luotsi and inform about a job posting, for which they wish for Luotsi to find a talent.

Luotsi collaborates regularly with businesses in association with the TE Office of North Karelia, Business Joensuu, Pohjois-Karjalan Yrittäjät ry, Joensuun Yrittäjät ry, and North Karelia Chamber of Commerce. We organize events together and strive for predicting the demand for future labor. Predicting, we support the vitality of businesses and that the businesses receive their talented labor.

Luotsi develops a diversified service platform for employment and education together in collaboration with different operators in the area (e.g. Kela, TE Office, Business Joensuu, Ohjaamo, schools, organizations, private service providers). The mutual platform assembles the different services to be easily reached by both personal and business customers. At Luotsi, there are different events for customers and businesses every week. These are open for everyone, regardless of your place of domicile or employment status. As a job seeker, for instance, you can get directly to an employer’s quick interview, after which possible additional interviews can be arranged. There is a Duunitorstai (Work Thursday) on Thursdays, for instance, where you can directly get to a recruitment company’s interview by appointment.

There are other regular events during Luotsi’s week, too: there is an opportunity for a professional CV photo shoot on Thursdays in conjunction with Duunitorstai, Talousneuvola (Financial Clinic) gives low-threshold advice on financial matters on Wednesdays, and you can bring your own business idea to Yrittäjyyden Olohuone (Entrepreneurial Living Room) to be discussed with experts on Fridays. Indeed you can. As our customer, you can change your job agent if you want. It is worth being bold and bringing up the matter with the job agent you currently have. The agent can recommend a new agent for you. You can familiarize yourself with our job agents on our website, too. We wish for the job agent change to always happen with a mutual agreement. A single customer can only have a single job agent as their trainer at a time.

As our customer, you can quit your customership with Luotsi at any point without consequences if you want, don’t you worry! Luotsi does not determine mandatory waiting periods. Instead, all matters regarding unemployment benefits belong in the TE Office. Quitting Luotsi’s customership by itself does not trigger a mandatory waiting period, but if the customer interrupts their labor policy education or some other service promoting employment during Luotsi’s customership, the TE Office makes its decision based on its own criteria.

Luotsi’s customership is based on voluntariness and the customer’s own desire and motivation to cause the change in their situation. However, we wish that quitting the customership is always agreed with the job agent, so they do not try contacting the customer in vain.

No, all our services are free for both our personal and business customers.

Yes, since Luotsi is an enterprise funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the city of Joensuu. The ESF funding brings along requirements for the customers, too, e.g. filling out starting forms and termination forms. These documents require the customer’s signature.

The job agent and the customer also agree together on filling out the informed consent form. With this form, the customer grants the job agent a permission to solve matters on behalf of the customer. Filling out the form is voluntary. Luotsi’s privacy statement is available here (in Finnish).

The secretary of the enterprise saves this data to the digital EURA system, which is used to report Luotsi’s activity to the funder. The enterprise’s customers are logged to Foreammatti, the customer data system of the enterprise. The customers receive their user ID for the system and can use it to follow the information on meetings, cooperation, or plans logged to Foreammatti. The customer can use the system to assess their competence and work ability. If they want, the customer grants permission to their job agent to look at the data they have entered to Foreammatti.

Yes, we are here for that purpose. One of the most vital missions of Luotsi is to support the vitality of local businesses. Vigorous businesses hire employees. You can follow the results of our activity on our website (in Finnish). There, and also on social media, we publish our customers’ employment stories.

We at Luotsi search, find, and relay work for our customers to know about in many different ways. Each job agent is in contact with businesses according to the needs of their customer. Additionally, our business agents assess the labor needs for the area’s businesses in collaboration with the TE services and Business Joensuu. These are the jobs we relay to Luotsi’s customers. The city of Joensuu’s jobs with a wage subsidy are filled through Luotsi and are exclusively offered to Luotsi’s customers. These are always arranged on individual grounds.

We advise not to underestimate recruitment companies. They are Luotsi’s important business partners and, for their part, create employment opportunities for the customers. Duunitorstai (Work Thursday) is open for everyone interested in the recruitment companies.

At Luotsi, we also organize different recruitment and business events in collaboration with other operators. These events include, e.g. differently themed weeks, Työtä-karnevaalit, and Pestuu.

As a Luotsi customer, you will get the best benefit there is from Luotsi’s activity. It is worth following Luotsi’s website and social media. This way, you will remain up to speed about all the employment opportunities Luotsi has to offer.

Unfortunately, we cannot hand out a vacancy list, since we are in constant search of the businesses’ needs for the required competence, education, and other requirements. For the businesses, we introduce and offer them the customers meeting their requirements to be their employees. This way, we make precision recruitment a reality for the businesses.

In addition, we occasionally announce some vacancies opening on our website or on social media. In general, all open vacancies relayed by Luotsi are directed to our customers. As a Luotsi customer, you will get to know all of Luotsi’s vacancies and improve your employment opportunities!

Yes, the ‘80s are here to stay. At Luotsi’s service counter, you can take care of matters regarding work and education seeking both by phone and with a computer if needed. So, come to Luotsi’s information desk and ask for a phone from the agent on duty, using it from Luotsi’s phone booth to take care of your work and education matters. You can also visit your own job agent and discuss these matters further.

Luotsi’s job agents can train their customers both on the spot or remotely. The job agent and the customer always agree on the training channels to be used together. Remote training can be arranged through Teams meetings, WhatsApp calls or video calls, by text messages or by email. We are also actively developing virtual training.

We at Luotsi are also organizing events through different electronic services. We organize webinars and events, which are recorded. The recordings can be watched later on our YouTube channel.
