Climate Business Network – Towards a Carbon Neutral City project 2021–2022

Ilmastokumppanuusverkosto - Kohti hiilineutraalia kaupunkiseutua project runs from 1 May 2021 to 31 October 2022. The project is funded by the Ministry of Environment (70%) and the city of Joensuu (30%), with a total funding of €100 000.

The project promotes and further develops the Climate Business Network that was established in 2015 by the city of Joensuu. Local businesses and communities are invited to join the network by signing a climate commitment with the city. These climate commitments consist of individual steps and target objectives to reduce the carbon footprint of companies and communities. Each partner sets out their own planned actions and goals.

The project aims to increase the impact of these climate commitments. This will be done by calculating the emission reduction impact of the commitments and developing scenarios to further reduce emissions. With the help of this information the companies and communities will be able to plan new and more effective climate measures. Furthermore, the project aims to promote cooperation and synergies between the members of the network.
