Biathlon stars arrive at Kontiolahti to compete in speed and accuracy on 12–15 March. The four-day event is expected to attract 25,000–30,000 spectators. As before, they are likely to arrive in large numbers from all parts of Finland, and every fourth spectator comes from abroad, mainly Russia.
Free shuttle bus service to the stadium
The City of Joensuu and the Municipality of Kontiolahti provide public transport free of charge to the venue on competition days. In Joensuu, the shuttle buses to the stadium depart from the Market Square in the centre of town. In Kontio-lahti, there are two alternative routes, from Kontiolahti centre and Lehmo.
The first buses from the Market Square depart for the stadium on every competition day approximately three hours before the competitions begin. Buses run at approximately fiveminute intervals. On days when there is only one competition event, Thursday and Friday, the last bus from the Market Square to the stadium departs 45 minutes before the start of competition. A return bus service starts when the competition ends and the last bus departs as the event area closes. On days when there are two competition events, Saturday and Sunday, the shuttle bus service runs non-stop from morning to evening.
Torikatu street will be closed to all traffic, except taxis, between Siltakatu and Koskikatu streets.
