In Joensuu there is a great number of hiking and skiing trails, beaches, ball fields, skating rinks, frisbee golf courses and skating parks - all for free. On the other hand, if you prefer indoor sports, the city maintains two swimming halls, several gyms, sports halls, ice halls, and the Joensuu arena (finnish only), where you can try almost any sports you like.

We have more than one hundred sport clubs organising weekly training sessions and sporting events in Joensuu. These events play a central role in the everyday life and attractiveness of the city.

In Joensuu we also focus on the special services targeted at special groups. For instance, infant swimming groups, swimming schools and water gymnastics, which are organized in cooperation by the city and the regional community college.

Joensuu has numerous teams playing at the national level. In proportion to its population, Joensuu is extremely well-represented in many sports. Tickets are usually available at the box office before the game.
