Joensuu Museums are drafting a new concept - Take part by answering customer survey

While Joensuu Museums’ exhibitions remain closed to limit the coronavirus epidemic, we still continue with the maintenance of collections, exhibition planning and administrative tasks related to the cultural environment as much as possible.

Joensuu Museums, meaning the North Karelia museum and Joensuu Art Museum, has been designated as the central regional museum starting from the beginning of 2020. The duties of a central regional museum include offering information and expert services regarding local cultural heritage to the authorities, private citizens, companies as well as local museums. The duty of the art museum is to care for the visual cultural heritage and promote visual arts in the North Karelia region.

Joensuu Museums are now drafting a new concept in order to find new operational models for museums of the future.  The concept includes surveying customer groups, planning long-term exhibition programming, improving collection services as well as new operational models.

Joensuu Museums aims to interact with the actors and people of the region. The survey will be conducted online, but we aim to organise public meetings regarding the development of Joensuu Museums during the coming autumn.

The survey is open until 26 April 2020.
