Anti-racism campaign by Joensuu Immigration Services on 19.3.

The city of Joensuu observes a zero tolerance policy concerning racism. On Tuesday, 19th March, Joensuu Immigration Services will organise a campaign in which passers-by are given chocolate bars. With the treats, the campaign aims to spread goodwill and show its rejection of all kinds of racism and discrimination.

Residents are invited to participate in the campaign by publishing images of chocolate bars on social media with the hash tags #eirasismille and #myjoensuu.

The campaign will start at 9 am in the pedestrian zone between Siltakatu and Niskakatu. Immigration Services staff will wear bright green shirts carrying the Joensuu logo.

The campaign forms part of National Anti-Racism week, which runs from 18.3. to 24.3.2019. Thursday, 21st March, is also the UN's Anti-Racism Day. There is a whole programme for the week in Joensuu. Check it out at: www.jelli.fi/tapahtuma/rasismin-vastainen-viikko-15-24-3-2019/ (in Finnish).
