The celebration of the 40th anniversary of Joensuu Winter Music Festival continues. The concert package in February will be complemented by the festival's new family event for the whole family and a concert by Jazz club -76.
In July, a happy summer day will be celebrated at Joensuu Market Square with an event for the whole family organized by Joensuu Winter Music Festival. Saturday June 24th 10–11.30 a.m. the hilarious characters of Theatre Traktor, the Joensuu Conservatory's Tulikatti Choir, Motora’s Säpäkät and Vinhakat and the Karelia University of Applied Sciences' Fairy Tales -project will perform on the market place stage. In collaboration with the Big Music for Small Cities project, the event offers a wide range of things to see, experience and do.
The postponement of the market place event to July is already a plan C. Due to gathering restrictions cost by the pandemic, the event was postponed first from February to June, and most recently to July.
– Now it would look good in terms of organizing an outdoor event, says Anna Maria Kupiainen, the project coordinator organizing the event.
– We will continue to monitor the situation and operate safely within the prevailing conditions. With hope and joy we look forward meeting the audience, Kupiainen continues.
The program for the jubilee year of the Joensuu Winter Music Festival will continue in August. The concert of the David Chevalier trio organized by Jazzkerho -76 will be held in Pakkahuone on August 18th at 7 p.m. The music of the French guitarist David Chevalier is a fascinating combination of jazz and ethnic influences sourced from American folk music.
