Introduction

NordLing is a Balto-Scandinavian network of graduate schools in language and linguistic studies. The network organises joint courses, seminars, summer schools, conferences, and other events aimed at doctoral students in the participating institutions.

The network provides an indispensable forum for the exchange of ideas and good practices both in research and research training. The network brings together the many already existing Nordic and Baltic institutions working within the field of language studies and doctoral training into an operational network, which enables the organisation of top-quality joint courses and seminars. The network also encourages individual-level networking between doctoral students and scholars working in the Nordic and Baltic countries, and greatly promotes their international mobility within the area.

NordLing is funded by a three-year grant from NordForsk, starting from 1 October, 2006.
