Social program
All conference participants, including accompanying persons, will
be invited to an informal gathering in the Metria building
of the University from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., June 12. A light supper
available.
The City of Joensuu and the University of Joensuu invite all conference
participants, including accompanying persons, to a reception
in the Joensuu Art Museum, Kirkkokatu 23, on Monday, June 13, from
7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The afternoon of June 15 will be reserved for an excursion
to the Jakokoski Canal Museum about 40 kilometers from Joensuu.
A light supper will be served by the local people. The program includes
three hour sightseeing cruise along the river Pielinen and a bus
ride from/to Joensuu. More details are going to appear in the conference
program. The cost of the excursion, 25 euros, is to be paid at the
conference office by noon of Tuesday, June 14.
Conference dinner closes the conference in the evening of
June 17, in the campus Restaurant Aura, starting from 7 p.m. The
cost of the dinner, 25 euros, is to be paid at the conference office
by 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15.
Some program for accompanying persons will also be arranged:
All accompanying persons are invited to participate a city tour
in the morning of June 14. The tour includes a sightseeing by
bus, visiting some churches and museums, and a walking tour around
the downtown market place.
An excursion to Ilomantsi, a small town wellknown of its
Carelian heritage, and situated about 70 kilometers from Joensuu,
will be organized for accompanying persons on Thursday, June 16.
The excursion includes a visit to a local museum, a traditional
lunch and a folk music performance in authentical scenery. The cost
of the excursion, 35 euros, is to paid at the conference office
by 4.30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14. Minimum number of participants
for this excursion is 20.
