Joensuu Art Museum

Joensuu Art Museum is situated in the town centre near the market square. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum arranges multiple temporary exhibitions of Finnish and foreign art every year.

Ilona Niemi & Kerttu Horila – Womanhood, May 24 - Sept 16

The summer exhibition of Joensuu Art Museum studies the different aspects of womanhood through works of two artists from two different generations.

Kerttu Horila (born 1946), best known for her life-sized ceramic sculptures, portrays the various ways in which women communicate through their appearance and expressions.

Ilona Niemi's (born 1975) collage works, paintings and video installation concentrate on the development of womanhood and are often inspired by literature, mythology and women's magazines.
